LAFC unveil Farsi T-shirt in honor of Steven Beitashour

Steven Beitashour - wearing Farsi LAFC T-shirt

LAFC have been groundbreakers in terms of MLS team apparel, making a baseball cap their signature swag item and producing a line of T-shirts for their players (it does help that so many of their players, including Carlos Vela and Latif Blessing, have "LA" right there in their names).

Now, the latest innovation comes with a Farsi LAFC T-shirt, in black-and-gold, for defender Steven Beitashour.

Beitashour, born in the Bay Area to Iranian parents, is an Iran international and strongly identifies with his heritage. While there have been a handful of Iranian players in MLS over the history of the league, Beitashour has had the longest and most successful career in the league to date, winning the treble with Toronto FC in 2017, and the Supporters' Shield with San Jose in 2012.

There is a significant population of Iranians and Iranian Americans in and around Los Angeles as well -- some estimates have it that there are as many as 500,000 people of Iranian heritage in greater Los Angeles, considered to be the largest group of Iranians outside Iran in the world.
