Real Salt Lake's Mike Petke delivers heated comments after loss to Loons

Real Salt Lake head coach Mike Petke was ejected from his team's Week 20 match against Minnesota United FC following his sideline protests against the decision to allow Minnesota's opening goal which he felt was triggered by a foul committed by MNUFC's Darwin Quintero.


Minnesota would go on to win the match 3-2 and Petke did not back down from his position in his postgame comments to the media, also citing a foul committed earlier in the match on RSL's Danilo Acosta that he felt warranted more than a yellow card:


“Why did I get kicked out tonight? You look at the 20th minute, which I checked at halftime. [Rasmus] Schuller goes into Danny Acosta, who’s in behind the midfield line, studs up a foot off the ground, studs showing into his leg. If he’s a foot to the left of Danny – face on – he breaks his leg.


[Darwin] Quintero on the goal doesn’t look at the ball," Petke continued. "He plays literally not the ball, runs in, extends his arm, looks at it the last second and they score.”
