The LA Galaxy are still trying to add longtime US men's national team center back Geoff Cameron to bolster their back line, even after their initial offer for the Stoke City man was turned down, according to a report from Yahoo Sports' Doug McIntyre.

Cameron had two seasons left on his contract at Stoke, but is likely to be moved after the Potters were relegated from the Premier League last season.

The Galaxy, meanwhile, enter their Independence Day match against D.C. United (10:30 pm ET | TV & streaming info) having conceded 26 goals in their 16 matches, or 1.63 goals per game.

According to McIntyre, Cameron turned down an initial offer of roughly $1 million per season, which the Galaxy would presumably pay for partly with allocation money since they've already filled their three Designated Player slots.

Cameron, who turns 33 next week, played for Galaxy assistant Dominic Kinnear from 2008 to 2012 with the Houston Dynamo. He's also believed to have other options in Europe, McIntyre writes.
