LA Galaxy prospect Efrain Alvarez bags hat trick in USL play for Los Dos

Efrain Alvarez - LA Galaxy - with Galaxy II vs. Saint Louis FC

LA Galaxy academy product Efrain Alvarez is one of the most highly-touted youth prospects in North America, and on Wednesday night he produced a head-turning – and historic – performance in a USL match with Galaxy II.

Already one of the youngest members of any 2018 MLS roster, the 15-year-old Alvarez became the youngest player in USL history to record a hat trick, scoring three clinical strikes as “Los Dos” beat Saint Louis FC in a 6-3 barnburner.

The Mexican youth international showed a range of skill, composure and accuracy on his three finishes, revealing why the Galaxy promoted him to the senior squad as a Homegrown Player this season after making him the youngest signing in USL history as a Galaxy II addition last year.

Alvarez wasn’t the only one wearing his shooting boots at the StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium: His teammate Ethan Zubak, age 20, also bagged three goals as Galaxy II notched their first win of the 2018 campaign.
