When the New England Revolution and New York City FC meet Saturday in Foxborough (1:30 pm ET; TV & streaming Info), it will be Brad Friedel and Patrick Vieira's first meeting as pro head coaches.
Back in their playing days in England, results usually went Vieira's way.
While Vieira never himself scored on Friedel's goal during the 12 Premier League and FA Cup games they played against each other, Vieira's Arsenal and Manchester City sides came out 9-1-2 in those contests.
In fact, Friedel's only win over Vieira came in the American's first-ever appearance against the Frenchman, a 4-0 Liverpool victory in the league on May 6, 1998. The goalkeeper's two clean sheets against the midfield general came in their first two matches against each other.
