San Jose Earthquakes, Simon Dawkins agree to contract buyout

The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club and midfielder Simon Dawkins have mutually agreed to part ways.

The Earthquakes will exercise their one offseason buyout of a guaranteed contract on the Designated Player, and the 30-year-old Dawkins will be placed on waivers.

Dawkins, 30, made 43 appearances (35 starts) for the Quakes since signing as a DP in 2016, scoring five goals and providing two assists. But he hadn't played in the league since the beginning of August.

He previously spent time on loan with the Quakes during the 2011 and 2012 seasons, scoring 14 times in that stretch.
