LAFC signed a second goalkeeper on Wednesday, when they announced the acquisition of 24-year-old Honduran international Luis Lopez from Real EspaƱa.
Lopez joins fellow 24-year-old and former Seattle Sounder Tyler Miller as the two goalkeepers on LAFCā€™s current roster.
ā€œLuis is a young, athletic goalkeeper whoā€™s eager to grow and learn within MLS,ā€ GM John Thorrington said in a statement. ā€œWeā€™re excited to get him on the field and see what he can do for our club.ā€
Lopez spent the last five years with Honduran club Real EspaƱa, where he made 124 career appearances and helped the team to the Apertura 2017 championship.
The 5-foot-11 ā€˜keeper has 12 career caps with Honduras, started all four of their matches at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup and appeared in two World Cup qualifiers.
ā€œLuis is an athletic goalkeeper who is very good with the ball at his feet,ā€ said LAFC head coach Bob Bradley. ā€œHe will bring great experience having played in big matches throughout his career.ā€
