Following up on reports out of Belgium, the Kansas City Star reported Tuesday that Sporting Kansas City has agreed in principal to transfer for French attacking midfielder Yohan Croizet from Belgian side KV Mechelen.

The deal comes as Kansas City lose Latif Blessing to LAFC in the MLS Expansion Draft. Croizet, a 25-year-old midfielder who has been in Belgium since 2013, will receive Designated Player money, according to the KC Star.

Croizet joined the Belgian first-division side last year for a club-record fee, but has struggled for consistency. He began his pro career with Metz in his homeland before moving on to Belgium, where he's played for Virton and OH Leuven in addition to Mechelen.

A steady stream of talent with Belgian ties has arrived in MLS in recent years, including Sacha KljestanFrederic BrillantVictor Vazquez and Maxime Chanot.
