The Philadelphia Union rode a fantastic night from Ilsinho and C.J. Sapong to defeat FC Dallas, 3-1, Saturday night at Talen Energy Stadium.
The Union opened the scoring just past the quarter-hour mark when Ilsinho, Haris Medunjanin and Sapong combined on a Goal-of-the-Week worthy play. The midfielders worked a quick give-and-go, with a backheel and a one-timed cross setting up Sapong.
Five minutes later, Ilsinho did the work himself, one-timing a cleared ball from the top of the box past a diving Chris Seitz to double the lead. Philadelphia tripled the lead in the second half, though Michael Barrios snapped the shutout with a stoppage-time goal for Dallas.
The match included the first use of Video Review in MLS history, when Dallas forward Maximiliano Urruti scored a goal in the 80th minute. However, after referee Ricardo Salazar signaled to initiate a review, the goal was disallowed due to a foul committed by Cristian Colman on goalkeeper John McCarthy.

- TENTH TIME'S A CHARM: Tonight was the 10th all-time meeting between Philadelphia and Dallas, and just the first time the Union defeated the Texas side since joining MLS (now 1-5-4). But more importantly, the Union showed their home scoring form, at least, remains on point. This was the third straight home game in which Philly has scored three goals, and sixth time so far this year in all competitions.
- SAPONG & ILSINHO SHOW: Ilsinho and Sapong have now combined to score five goals and add five assists in their last two starts together, wins over Columbus and Dallas. Sapong also continued to raise his career season-high, bringing his 2017 total to 12 league goals through 22 games.
- DALLAS SWOON? For a team that's been atop the Western Standing for the better part of the past 2+ seasons, it seems eye-opening to see Dallas struggle in consecutive games. But that's what it appears we're seeing. On the heels of a 4-0 home loss to Vancouver, Dallas had conceded seven straight goals in two games before Barrios' stoppage time goal tonight.
