The Vancouver Whitecaps finally have their first road win vs. FC Dallas. It came in memorable fashion, too.
The Whitecaps went into Toyota Stadium and mauled a 10-man FC Dallas side, 4-0, on Saturday night to grab their first victory in Frisco, Texas. Fredy Montero led the way in the Western Conference tilt with a brace and an assist, but Nicolas Mezquida scored the most impressive goal of the match with a bicycle kick effort from a tight angle.
With the win, fifth-placed Vancouver are six points behind new conference leaders Sporting Kansas City. FC Dallas are now in second, trailing Sporting KC by one point.

- WINNING BIG: Even before going up a man, Vancouver were well on their way to victory. They led 2-0 through 49 minutes and were keeping Dallas' attack largely in check. The Whitecaps continued to keep Dallas at bay for the rest of the match while adding two more goals, including Mezquida's impressive bicycle kick effort. This was an overall impressive outing for the Whitecaps, and one they will not soon forget.
- HUGE HOLE: FC Dallas were down a pair of goals and struggling to get much going up front, but any chance of rallying was erased when Carlos Gruezo was sent off in the 59th minute with a straight red card. Gruezo was ejected for violent conduct on Yordy Reyna, and that gave the Whitecaps even more space to exploit vs. a Dallas side that had to push numbers forward in order to try and salvage a result.
- ACCOUNT OPEN: His strike might get overshadowed by Montero's two-goal, one-assist performance and Mezquida's highlight reel-worthy finish, but Ibini-Isei also contributed to the Whitecaps' cause with his first MLS goal. Ibini-Isei opened his account in the 18th minute via a deflected shot, but he will probably not mind much given that his effort stood as the winner in the rout.
