Total of 51 MLS players named to final 23-man rosters for 2017 Gold Cup

At total of 49 MLS players were officially called up to the final 23-man rosters of the 12 nations participating in the upcoming edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Eight of the 12 nations will feature MLS players with the USA (16 players) and Canada (9 players) having the largest MLS-based contingents, followed by Jamaica (8), Costa Rica (6), Honduras (4), Panama (4), El Salvador (1) and Martinique (1). 

Another 33 MLS players, who were originally part of the preliminary 40-man rosters submitted on June 7 by each of the dozen national teams, are still available to serve as injury replacements up to 24 hours before each team's first match in the tournament. They can also be selected among the six potential roster replacements allowed per team just before the quarterfinal round. Per tournament regulations, injury and knockout-round replacements can only come from the original 40-man lists.

Of the 22 MLS clubs, 18 will have players in the tournament that kicks off on Friday, July 7. Toronto FC lead the way with five players who will be participating, while New York City FC and the Seattle Sounders will have four players each in the event.
