Atlanta United celebrate a preseason goal against Chattanooga - Feb. 11, 2017

Saturday's preseason action included Atlanta United's first-ever match, a California Clasico in Las Vegas and FC Dallas continuing with their CONCACAF Champions League tuneups in Argentina:

The MLS expansion side won their first-ever game, a friendly in Tennessee against Chattanooga FC 4-0. Hector Villalba opened the scoring in the 9th minute, followed by Yamil Asad chipping in a goal in the first half. After the break, Atlanta United came out in their brand-new secondary kits, and scored two more, from Josef Martinez and HomegrownAndrew Carleton.

LA Galaxy 0, San Jose Earthquakes 1


It was another case of late-game drama in the California Clasico on Saturday night as the San Jose Earthquakes got an 89th-minute goal to down the Galaxy 1-0 at Cashman Field in Las Vegas. New arrival Olmes Garcia, a former Real Salt Lake forward, proved the hero of the match as he put home the rebound after goalkeeper Clement Diop saved a shot from Tommy Thompson (HIGHLIGHTS / PHOTOS).

Orlando City SC vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies (USL)


According to reports, media were not allowed in to watch OCSC face their rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies at Sylvan Lake Park in a closed-door scrimmage which was described as physical and intense.


The rest of the squad then took on Montverde Academy high school.


The Orlando Sentinel's Alicia DelGallo listed some of the players who participated in the second scrimmage: defenders Tony Rocha, Conor Donovan, Zach Carroll (OCB), Victor “PC” Giro; midfielders Pierre Da Silva, Cristian Higuita, Servando Carrasco, Richie Laryea -- Carlos Rivas, Hadji Barry. She reported that Kevin Alston and Danny Deakin sat out with minor quad and groin injuries.
