What if jerseys could show a player's Audi Player Index score? It happened

The Audi Player Index is becoming a part of the North American soccer lexicon, showcased on national TV broadcasts and most recently as part of MLSsoccer.com's MatchCenters.

The Audi Player Index scores are calculated in realtime with every action of a match, as the Audi Index tab of any MatchCenter will show you at any point during a live game. But what if those scores could also show up on a player's jersey?

On Tuesday night it happened at a special Audi Player Index Pick-Up Match at Chelsea Piers in New York City, featuring the likes of Philadelphia Union duo CJ Sapong and Maurice Edu, Bayern Munich great Paul Breitner, actor Josh Bowman, fashion models Hailey Clauson and Sigrun Eva Jonsdottir, and menswear blogger Marcel Floruss.

On-site statisticians tracked every player action during the pick-up match just like they do for MLS matches. The big difference?  No one walked away with a one-year lease for a 2017 Audi R8 V10 Coupe, which will go to the Audi Player Index Award winner -- the MLS player with the highest Index score average by season's end (at least 24 games and at least 1,530 minutes).
