Two Western Conference clubs above the red line in the Western Conference will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday, as the Vancouver Whitecaps welcome Real Salt Lake to town. The Whitecaps have not won in their last two matches while RSL are winless in their last three games.
- Both teams are coming off Saturday draws at home. Vancouver played the Colorado Rapids to a 2-2 tie while Salt Lake and the Montreal Impact finished 1-1.
- The Whitecaps are currently in sixth place in the West, but could close the gap on third-place RSL with a win. Vancouver are currently sitting on 25 points while Salt Lake have 29.
- The clubs met three times in 2015, and Vancouver won all three games. The Whitecaps first triumphed, 1-0, at RSL on April 18, then picked up a 2-1 victory at home on May 30 before winning again at BC Place by a 4-0 mark on Aug. 8.
Whitecaps FC have now gone three consecutive home games without victory, after the Colorado Rapids scored a late, late equalizer to leave the teams in a 2-2 draw evening at BC Place.
Real Salt Lake remained undefeated at home this season, after their 1-1 draw with the Montréal Impact evening at Rio Tinto Stadium. RSL is 5-0-3 at home this season, one of five teams still undefeated at home this season.
The ‘Caps have won the last three meetings at BC Place, including a 2-1 win last and a 4-0 victory last . Vancouver’s 1-0 win last was its first ever at Rio Tinto Stadium. Real had won three of the first six home matches in the series, with three draws. The only previous victory by a road team in the all-time series came in 2013, a 1-0 Real victory at BC Place.
