The #MLSSoshies: These players show off "the Bigger Picture"

Mauro Manotas' atmospheric Twitter photo

Social media has revolutionized the way we get information from the world and communicate with people all around it. It's brought us closer to our favorite teams and players like never before, and has created communities that bond us in support of them. Social media and soccer go hand in hand.

That’s why we created the MLS Soshies, the first major league social media awards.

Fans, players, and clubs are submitting their best pics in four categories: Let Me Take a #Selfie, Family Matters, the Bigger Picture, and #BFFs.

Today we feature another one of these four categories, "the Bigger Picture." While many players give us an inside look at the life of a Major League Soccer player, there are others that also train their lenses on the larger world. This category recognizes those players who best capture their lives outside the white lines.

Let's enjoy a few examples, shall we?

Brad Knighton (New England Revolution)

Ethan White (Philadelphia Union)

Mauro Manotas (Houston Dynamo)

Markus Halsti (D.C. United)

Tommy Meyer (LA Galaxy)

Chris Wingert (New York City FC)

Marc Burch (Colorado Rapids)

Don’t forget we’re also seeking MLS’ Most Social player for our bracket challenge. What does it take to be MLS’ most social player? Read on:

“Whether they’re on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, MySpace or all of the above, they’re just dominating. They’re experts with apps, filters, RTs, and are always up for sharing socially.”
