Portland Timbers' Darlington Nagbe wins final AT&T Goal of the Week of 2015

Darlington Nagbe’s having a good week.

Just one day after picking up MLS Player of the Week honors for the final week of the regular season, the Portland Timbers playmaker earned AT&T MLS Goal of the Week honors for Week 34.

The Week 34 vote was shortened due to the beginning of the 2015 AT&T Goal of the Year contest at 1 pm ET on Wednesday.

Nagbe’s free kick goal in the fifth minute of Portland’s 4-1 win against Colorado on Sunday beat out Didier Drogba’s fantastic flicked effort in the Montreal Impact’s win against Toronto FC, with Nagbe picking up 39.9 percent of the vote to Drogba’s 34.49. The result matched the Player of the Week voting, which saw Nagbe and Drogba earn the same amount of first-place votes, with Nagbe picking up one more second-place vote to earn the honor.

Nagbe and Drogba ended up well ahead of third-place finisher Ethan Finlay, whose marvelous individual effort for his second goal in Crew SC’s 5-0 win against D.C. United too home 15.47 percent of the vote. A pair of Designated Players rounded out the voting, with Chicago Fire striker Gilberto’s tally against the New York Red Bulls earning 7.65 percent of the vote and LA Galaxy star Robbie Keane’s goal against Sporting Kansas City finishing fifth with 2.5 percent.
