MLS Fantasy Advice: Why Round 12 isn't the week to bank on midweek action

Round 11 of MLS Fantasy Manager wasn't as big as Round 10, but there was still a whole lot of action. Only three teams recorded clean sheets (down from seven last week), although goals were still aplenty.

Federico Higuaín was the overall top scorer with 15 points. He was voted MLS Player of the Week on Monday and is one of the front-runners for his Goal of the Week stunner vs Portland. DGW Advice

Only six players with double-game weeks made the Dream Team in Round 10 and only four players made it in Round 11. With so many players producing at the moment, there is no need to take a minus-four point deduction to bring in a DGW player.

Injuries and lineup rotation are two of the main problems fantasy managers are experiencing due to DGWs. Neither can be predicted and if you lose a player in the first game, you're stuck with them for game No. 2 as well.

Odds of your entire starting XI playing both games in a DGW are rare so don't shy away from using those single game studs either. Guys like Obafemi Martins and Javier Morales should be played no matter what. One could even make the case for starting Diego Fagundez, Diego Valeri, Pedro Morales, Harry Shipp or Joao Plata over other double-game weekers, too.

INJURY UPDATE: The most pressing issue for fantasy owners this week is the health of FC Dallas defender Michel. Here's a closer look at his injury from Saturday. We might not get an update on his availability until Wednesday, but at this point I wouldn't recommend bringing him in nor would I plan on having him in your starting XI this week.
