New York Red Bulls veteran Dax McCarty takes issue with Chicago Fire rookie Harry Shipp on Twitter

Harry Shipp celebrates a hat trick against Dax McCarty (May 10, 2014)

Warning: If you take a dig at New York Red Bulls supporters, no matter how light-hearted, Dax McCarty's coming for you.

The veteran RBNY midfielder didn't stomach the Twitter jab by Chicago Fire rookie Harry Shipp, who was coming off his first career hat trick in MLS as the Chicago Fire beat RBNY 5-4 at Red Bull Arena.

"Sorry to ruin your evening Red Bulls fans :/ I'll try to be more courteous next time. Huge 1st win of the season. Rolling from here. #cf97," wrote Shipp in a tweet that was later deleted. But not before McCarty had his reply.

Check out the exchange below and check out Shipp's clarification at the very end.

And in case you were wondering, the Fire and Red Bulls meet for the third and final time this season on August 10 at Toyota Park.
