According to a Wednesday report on ESPNFC.com, Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden will sign a new one-year contract after agreeing to a new deal with the club.
The report states that Holden, who has made only nine league appearances since a devastating cruciate knee injury in March 2011, will re-sign with the Championship club next month after the upcoming round of US national team games in June.
The 27-year old midfielder was called into head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's national team camp — beginning on May 26 — ahead of friendlies against Belgium and Germany, and World Cup qualifiers against Jamaica, Panama and Honduras — May 29 to June 18.
Over the last 24 months, Holden has dealt not only with the cruciate ligament injury suffered in a tackle by Manchester United's Jonny Evans, but also numerous setbacks and follow up operations stemming from the inury along the road to recovery. Holden made four starts during a month-long loan move to League 1 side Sheffield Wednesday at the tail end of the 2012-13 season, and only four substitute appearances for Bolton after returning from injury.
