GUADALAJARA, Mexico – DaMarcus Beasley is set to earn his landmark 100th cap for the United States in the coming weeks, but his club situation remains cloudy.
The three-time World Cup veteran is negotiating a new contract with Puebla, but reports from team president Jesús López Chargoy suggest it isn’t going at all well.
“At the start, he was only asking for a 5 or 10 percent increase, and now [his agent] sent an e-mail changing the desired salary,” López Chargoy told Mexican radio station Exa 98.7 FM's program La Alineación, with his comments widely reported in the local press in Puebla.

López Chargoy went on to suggest 30-year-old Beasley is asking for much bigger increase in his wages and a three-year contract.
“I asked if it was a joke because the costs are not reasonable,” he added.
The Puebla president had tweeted on May 13 that Beasley would be staying at the club, while the player has also taken to the social network.
“I don’t know what is going to happen with the team and I,” wrote the former Chicago Fire player, in Spanish, on Wednesday. “I want to stay, but it’s not my decision.”

The left-winger signed for La Franja from Hannover in June 2011 and has played 64 league matches for the club, scoring 11 goals.
His good form has put him firmly back into the plans of USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann, especially after a standout performance in March against Mexico in Estadio Azteca.
