It's been a dream start to 2013 for the Montreal Impact. And now in addition to their perfect start after three matches, the Impact also have the league's best player, according to the Castrol Index.
Designated Player Marco Di Vaio, who scored the game-winner in Saturday's 2-1 win against 401 derby rivals Toronto FC, topped the Castrol Index Weekly Top 20 for Week 3 as the best performer during MLS Rivalry Week.
Di Vaio put each of his game-high five of shots on target, including one that finished in the back of the net in first-half stoppage time and ultimately decided the Impact's home opener at Olympic Stadium.
The Serie A veteran is the only Impact player on this week's Castrol list, which also features three FC Dallas players in the Top 10 and four New York Red Bulls player in the Top 20. See how players collect points in the Castrol methodology here.
Philadelphia's Jack McInerney, who registered another game-winner for the Union, finished a close second behind Di Vaio, while MLS Player of the Week Bill Hamid came in the third spot after a show-stopping performance in goal to shut out the Red Bulls.
And sneaking in at No. 20: young LA Galaxy forward Jack McBean, who registered his second career MLS goal in a 27-minute shift off the bench and figures to get plenty of more time in 2013.
