Chivas USA to face Chivas Guadalajara in friendly match in Ciudad Juarez

El Chelis after Columbus 3-0 loss (March 2, 2013)

Chivas USA will square off against sister club Chivas Guadalajara in a friendly match on Wednesday, March 20, to be held in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juárez.

This will represent the first time the two sides have clashed since Guadalajara owner Jorge Vergara took full control of Chivas USA at the end of the 2012 season. Since then, Chivas USA have re-established a strong connection with their sister club and loaned in a number of players from the Mexican powerhouse.

The match will be played for the benefit of EDUCARE, an institute in Ciudad Juárez that aims to provide better educational opportunities to some of the most marginalized and violence-stricken communities in a city that has been ravaged by crime in the past few years.
