Save of the Week

Daring stop by Montreal's Ricketts voted Week 5's best

Impact goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts

This is the Donovan Ricketts MLS fans have come to know.

The Montreal Impact's goalkeeper had a stellar performance in goal last weekend in a shutout of rivals Toronto FC and also registered the Save of the Week for Week 5 as voted on by the fans.

His 36th-minute stop was arguably the turning point of the Impact's historic first-ever victory in MLS. With Montreal up 1-0, Ricketts came off his line to block a point-blank header from wide-open TFC forward Danny Koevermans. The daring effort by the Jamaican netminder, who took to the air, deflected the ball with his chest and clattered into Koevermans, was rewarded with 37 percent of the fan vote.

Two-time 2012 Save of the Week winner Joe Cannon came in second place, while Matt Pickens (Colorado), Josh Saunders (LA) and Milos Kocic (TFC) brought up the rear.

Ricketts leads Montreal into Frisco, Tex. this weekend for a match against Brek Shea and FC Dallas (8:30 p.m. ET, MLS LIVE).
