Kasey Keller on the night of his final regular season game.

Keller routs competition for sixth Save of the Week

First the MLS Player of the Week, now the MLS Save of the Week.

On a night that was all about Kasey Keller, it's fitting that the aging 'keeper, playing in his final regular-season home game, would win Week 31's nod for the best stop.

But despite the magic of the night, the Seattle Sounders captain had to really work for the honors. After a bad giveaway by Patrick Ianni played Khari Stephenson into the box all alone, Keller came out to knock the ball clear.

The clearance went as far as Chris Wondolowski, whose low blast was also saved by Keller. The rebound fell to Simon Dawkins, but once again the veteran goalkeeper was equal to the shot, saving another low drive before recovering to bat the ball away from an onrushing Wondolowski and end the threat.

The save proved to be pivotal, keeping the Sounders' deficit at 1-0, and late goals from Sammy Ochoa and Fredy Montero brought Seattle roaring back to finish off a storybook ending to Keller's regular-season home career.

Keller's triple save — his sixth Save of the Week of the season — took the Week 31 honors in an absolute rout, earning over 84 percent of the vote.
