Kick Off: Donovan's decision day, EPL after Lindpere

Galaxy captain Landon Donovan promises to make a final decision in two weeks about a potential return to Everton

There are two Los Angeles Galaxy players in Zürich, Switzerland, battling for two different World Cup bids. However, the one thing they have in common: They’re both wanted by EPL side Everton during the MLS offseason.

LA captain Landon Donovan says that he wants to go to Everton and he will make a final decision in two weeks. David Beckham says that because he’s Manchester United through and through, he could never play for the Toffees.

American Jonathan Spector also once bled Man. United colors. But there were no loyalties on Tuesday as he scored West Ham’s first two goals in a 4-0 Carling Cup quarterfinal upset of the Red Devils.

To think that earlier this week, Spector was being called a flop and reportedly set to be shipped to FC Köln of the Bundesliga.

In other Yanks action overseas, it’s bad news for Schalke's Jermaine Jones as the US midfielder has been demoted to a fourth-division reserve team. And what will disappoint USMNT manager Bob Bradley, the reason has nothing to do with injury.

There are other Americans in action today including US captain Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Étienne) in French league action, Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht) in a Europa League match and likely Brad Guzan and Eric Lichaj (Aston Villa) in the Carling Cup derby against Birmingham (2:30 p.m. ET, Fox Soccer Plus).

In addition to the Robbie Keane rumors, there is another Tottenham Hotspur player linked with a move to MLS: defender William Gallas.

He may not have as big a name as Gallas, but a midfielder from Mexico would likely turn out to be one of the most impactful offseason signings by an MLS club if they can put pen to paper. The former Mexican international confirmed he’s headed to MLS. (SPANISH)

Club América captain Pável Pardo has made a decision as to what his next six months will look like. (SPANISH)

Going the other way – from MLS to Mexico – is newly crowned MLS Cup champion Omar Cummings of the Colorado Rapids. The manager at Estudiantes Tecos says he has an internationals spot reserved for the Jamaican.

It’s thumbs up for Jonathan Bornstein on his arrival in Monterrey to join his new club, Mexican side Tigres UANL. The photos captured his airport arrival.

There is also news from Estonia today that New York Red Bulls midfielder Joel Lindpere is the target of Premier League teams but any move would have be an outright transfer. (ESTONIAN)

Later today, the US World Cup Bid Committee makes its final presentation in front of FIFA, which will be streamed live beginning at 11 a.m. ET.

US Soccer President Sunil Gulati, Commissioner Don Garber and Donovan shared their feelings ahead of the 2022 host decision, which will be announced on Thursday.

In the meantime, it has become very evident where the block of three CONCACAF votes will go for both the 2018 and 2022 World Cup votes. President Barack Obama made time to speak to CONCACAF president Jack Warner on Tuesday.

There is talk that a new football stadium in downtown Los Angeles could be part of the 2022 World Cup. But that project, headed up by AEG, is being challenged by another proposal for a soccer stadium in downtown LA.

In MLS news, Toronto FC traded midfielder Joseph Nane to the Colorado Rapids but it’s the club that could change hands after news broke of a proposed $1 billion purchase of TFC and the other teams owned by MLSE.

If there is no team that picks up Guillermo Barros Schelotto in the upcoming Re-Entry Drafts, there is a team in Argentina ready to sign him up … to play. (SPANISH)

There is speculation that the Seattle Sounders announcement scheduled for later today could involve their third DP slot being filled.

Lastly, several MLS players are involved in international action today in the Digicel Caribbean Cup, mainly representing the Jamaican national team.
