The Metros will travel to Eastern Conference leading New England Revolution on Saturday, June 25 for their second meeting of the season. The two teams met earlier this season at Giants Stadium where they played to a 2-2 tie. (TV: MSG, Spanish Radio: WADO 1280 AM).
After the Metros travel to New England, they will head out to Utah where they will play Real Salt Lake on July 4th.
Tickets are available for all MetroStars home games at the Continental Airlines Arena box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets. RAZOV SCORES FIRST GOAL WITH METROSTARS:
Ante Razov came out strong against his former team, the Columbus Crew on June 18 at Giants Stadium, scoring his first two goals with the MetroStars. One came in the 31st minute and one in the 33rd minute. The goals were Razov's first since his first game of the season when he was still playing for the Crew. Razov's two goals led the Metros to a 3-2 win and sole possession of 3rd place in the Eastern Conference.
The Metros beat Columbus 3-2 last Saturday led by Ante Razov's first two goals as a MetroStar. Zach Wells also came up huge for the Metros saving his second penalty kick of the season. His first penalty kick save also came against Columbus and Wells is now two-for-four on penalty kick saves for the year.
BRADLEY VS. THE REVOLUTION:
Since coming to the MetroStars before the 2003 season from the Chicago Fire, head coach Bob Bradley has struggled against the Revolution, as he has a record of 1-4-4 in regular season action. In addition to this, the Revolution knocked the Metros out of the playoffs in the 2003 Eastern Conference Semifinals, by an aggregate score of 4-0.
LISI VS. THE REVS:
MetroStars midfielder Mark Lisi has amassed an impressive eight assists and two goals in the 13 games that he has played against the Revolution over his four year MLS career.
LALAS COMES IN AS NEW PRESIDENT AND G.M.:
Anschutz Entertainment Group announced that Alexi Lalas is the new President and General Manager of the MetroStars. Lalas fills the void left by Nick Sakiewicz, who was promoted to President, AEG Soccer New York/New Jersey.
Alexi Lalas comes to the MetroStars from the San Jose Earthquakes, where he oversaw all business and soccer operations as the club's President and General Manager since January 27, 2004. He has long been one of the leading figures and most familiar faces in United States soccer and he cemented his place in MLS history by making five all-star appearances over his seven-year career and garnering MLS Best XI honors in 2002.
By bringing Lalas to New York, AEG hopes to make it the biggest soccer market in the country, and one of the biggest in the world.
WELLS ON FIRE:
MetroStars Goalkeeper Zach Wells set a career high in route to earning Man of the Match honors on June 12th in a 0-0 draw with D.C. United. Wells made 14 saves on the night, and came one save away from tying the MLS record for saves in a game held by former MetroStars goalkeeper Tony Meola.
Wells, in his first year as a regular starter, is ranked in the top three in the three major goalkeeper categories: saves, save percentage and goals against average.
He leads the league in saves with 59, ahead of Real Salt Lake's D.J. Countess. Wells is second in save percentage with 80.0% and third in goals against average, with a 1.00, just behind N.E. Revolution goalie Matt Reis and Dallas goalie Scott Garlick.
GUEVARA'S BENDER EASILY WINS SIERRA MIST GOAL OF THE WEEK HONORS:
Guevara's brilliant game-winning, stoppage time goal from 23 yards out against Chicago on 5/31 captured 58 percent of the popular vote and earned Sierra Mist Goal of the Week honors for the week ending with June 4 games. This marks the second time in his career that Guevara has won the award, with the first coming on July 28, 2004 when he scored the game winner on a free kick in the 66' at Kansas City.

MSG will air the Metro Soccer Report this week on Thursday at 9:00 p.m. ET. The show will also re-run four more times (on Friday at 6:30 p.m., Friday at 11:00 p.m. ET and on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET and 6:30 p.m. ET).
In addition MSG will re-run the Italy-Ecuador game from Giants Stadium played on Saturday June 11th.
