SAN JOSE - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the team will host a benefit event for Bay Area SCORES at the Britannia Arms in downtown San Jose on Wednesday, March 30 during the United States vs. Guatemala World Cup qualifying match. Fans are encouraged to come watch the key qualifier beginning at 5:00 p.m. PT.

Earthquakes players will be on hand, along with President & General Manager Alexi Lalas as celebrity bartenders, at the Britannia Arms to help support Bay Area SCORES. Tips given to the Earthquakes celebrity bartenders will all go to support SCORES. The event will also feature trivia contests and raffles for Earthquakes memorabilia.

At this event, SCORES is also kicking off the Corporate Cup Soccer Tournament. They are seeking more teams from area companies to compete against the likes of Google, Yahoo!, Starbucks and The GAP for a chance to play in the finals at Spartan Stadium before the Earthquakes vs. Galaxy game in June.

Bay Area SCORES is an after school program that includes reading, writing and soccer to help children succeed both academically and athletically. The program runs five days a week and features a number of special events throughout the year. Bay Area SCORES is the only after-school program to use teamwork, soccer, poetry and community service to help students in San Francisco public schools succeed.
