MLS disciplinary committee fines D.C.'s Nelsen

Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee announced Thursday that D.C. United defender Ryan Nelsen has been fined $250 for his actions on Saturday after he was shown a second yellow card in a 1-0 road loss to the Columbus Crew.


Nelsen, who received his second yellow card of the game and subsequent red card after a 44th minute challenge on Columbus Crew forward Edson Buddle, received a $250 fine in addition to the automatic one-game suspension and $250 fine imposed for the red card. The D.C. United captain will serve his one-game suspension on Saturday, October 2 when United visits the MetroStars at Giants Stadium.
