GALAXY AND SAO PAULO TO LOCK HORNS ON WEDNESDAY AT THE HOME DEPOT CENTER: The Los Angeles Galaxy will play an international friendly against Sao Paulo Futebol Club (Brazil) on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at The Home Depot Center. The 7:30 pm match will be the first in Galaxy history against a Brazilian club team. The Galaxy-Sao Paulo match will also feature a Brazilian Soccer Festival, produced by Brazilian Nites Productions, beginning at 6:00 pm with live entertainment including traditional Brazilian music and dancers, and a variety of promotional booths on the main concourse inside The Home Depot Center. The Galaxy-Sao Paulo match can also be heard live on KMXE 830 AM (Spanish). Tickets for Galaxy-Sao Paulo match are now on sale with pricing as follows: Club $75, Sideline $45, Corners $30, Upper Deck $28, Endlines $22 and General Admission $15. Galaxy and El Salvadoran international midfielder Mauricio Cienfuegos with a farewell match on Saturday at 5 pm. Galaxy fans can also tune in live to hear the Galaxy-Sao Paulo match on KMXE 830 AM (Spanish). In what will be the largest reunion of current and former Galaxy players since the league's inception almost a decade ago, the Galaxy will celebrate the career of one of its "founding fathers" as part of an exciting doubleheader of soccer action. Cienfuegos' farewell match will kick off at 5:00 pm and will be played prior to the re-scheduled regular season match that evening between the Galaxy and the Kansas City Wizards (from July 31st) at 7:30pm (see details below). Cienfuegos himself selected the teams and will play one half for each side. Among those expected to participate on the side representing the Galaxy and MLS are: goalkeeper/forward Jorge Campos and defenders Dan Calichman, Paul Caligiuri, and Greg Vanney. Midfielders Ezra Hendrickson, Martin Machon, Danny Peña and Marvin Quijano have also confirmed playing in the match, along with forwards Raul Diaz Arce and Carlos Hermosillo. Milovan Djoric, former national team coach in El Salvador will lead the squad from Cienfuegos' homeland and former Galaxy head coach Lothar Osiander will direct the MLS charges. GALAXY AND WIZARDS MEET IN IMPORTANT WESTERN CONFERENCE GAME AT 7:30 PM: After hosting Sao Paulo FC in Wednesday's international friendly at The Home Depot Center, the Los Angeles Galaxy (5-2-3, 18 pts - 1st West) return to MLS action for a Western Conference match-up against the Kansas City Wizards (3-3-2, 11 pts - 3rd West) on Saturday, June 5 at 7:30 pm. Saturday's game will be the first between the clubs in the 2004 regular season, though the Galaxy defeated the Wizards 1-0 in a pre-season contest in Cary, North Carolina on March 27. The Galaxy leads the all-time regular-season series between the teams by a slim 16-13-3 margin. Though the game will not be available on television in Los Angeles, Galaxy fans can listen to it live on the radio in English on KMPC 1540 AM and in Spanish on KMXE 830 AM. For the complete list of players expected to be there after this Saturday's doubleheader, log on to Fans will have the chance to get autographs, take pictures, and enjoy post-game happy hour fare. The restaurant is located at the intersection of the 110 and 405 Freeways. From The Home Depot Center, those attending should travel west on Victoria Street, turn right on Vermont and then make immediate right into the parking lot. GALAXY TORCH BURN TO REMAIN IN FIRST PLACE: Los Angeles Galaxy forward Jovan Kirovski scored a pair of goals as the most prolific attack in Major League Soccer registered a 4-1 victory against the Dallas Burn at The Home Depot Center on Saturday night. The Galaxy maintained their best overall record in the league, while the Burn fell to their fourth consecutive loss after starting the season with a four-game unbeaten streak. Despite missing the injured Carlos Ruiz, the league's leading scorer, for the third consecutive match, the Galaxy did not experience difficulty finding the back of the net. Sasha Victorine opened the scoring with a first-half header before an own goal doubled the lead. A Ronnie O'Brien goal halved the margin before Kirovski's fourth and fifth goals of the season put the result out of reach. NO MAS GALAXY THIS WEEK AS KMXE AIRS GALAXY - SAO PAULO MATCH: There will be no Más Galaxy this week since the Galaxy's Spanish-language radio partner KMXE will be broadcasting the Galaxy - Sao Paulo match during the show's usual 8-9 pm time slot.
