FC Dallas broadcaster Brad Sham named Texas Sportscaster of the Year

DALLAS - Brad Sham, the television play-by-play voice of FC Dallas was honored earlier this week by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association when he was named Texas Sportscaster of the Year. This is the ninth time in Sham's legendary broadcasting career which has spanned four decades, but his first since 1996.


Best known throughout the Metroplex as the radio voice of the Dallas Cowboys, a job that he just recently completed his 27th season of recently, Sham has also covered the NFL and NCAA Basketball for the CBS Radio Network while also serving three seasons as the announcer for the Texas Rangers Baseball Network. But he got his start in soccer with the NASL's Dallas Tornado in the 1970's and he has continued his love affair with the game ever since. One of the most respected and admired broadcasters in Texas, Sham has will begin his ninth season as the play-by-play voice for FC Dallas television broadcasts later in the spring.


"This is an award that is voted on by your peers in the business and that is why I considered it such a great honor to be given this recognition," Sham said. "I am grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me by FC Dallas, the Dallas Cowboys and Westwood One."


In addition to his nine Texas Sportscaster of the Year awards, Sham also has eight Katie Awards from the Dallas Press Club and was inducted to the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
