It's always an honor to represent your country and it feels really good to be out there.
How did the game against Wales go? Did the team play well together? Are there other things you need to work on?
I thought it was a pretty good match for us. You have to bear in mind that this was our first time playing together as a team. We have a couple of new players, a new coach, a new atmosphere, so I thought the result was good. Unfortunately we didn't win, but I thought the team played well.
Are you excited to play in the game against the Earthquakes?
I think it'll definitely be a fun game. I'm looking forward to it and I think they're looking forward to it, too. I'm just going to go out there and have a lot of fun playing against my own teammates. It's going to be a little awkward, you know, you're going to be playing against your own teammates and you don't want to do too much against them. But, you know, you also play for your country and you have a duty to do there. I keep thinking about whether or not I should score a lot or just play the ball around and play very simple. So I'll just go out there and have fun, and wherever my fun takes me, I'll just go with it.
How is it being back under Frank Yallop after playing with him for 3 years as the coach of the Earthquakes? Does he coach the same as he did for the Quakes or has he made changes?
He's adjusted and made some changes because now he is not just coaching a club, but he has a whole country on his shoulders, so he's under a lot more pressure. But he has basically taken it the same way. Playing under him is great because he knows how I play and I know how he coaches and what he wants out of a player. And I know what he wants out of me, so I just go out there and put in a good effort every day.
How is Canada planning to get past Belize in the first qualifying round?
Score goals and win. The bottom line is to score goals and not allow any goals against. We're at a little bit of an advantage having both games at home, but you can't count on just that to get us through. We have to play two good games.
How are you feeling about playing home in Canada for those two games?
It's great to finally establish some sort of fan base and some fans. We haven't even played in Canada since 2000, so playing in your own country is a great start for us. It just shows where Frank [Yallop] wants to take the team and how he wants to develop Canadian soccer.
Will there be a little confusion, maybe going into the wrong locker room on Saturday?
Yeah, I'll probably end up warming up on the wrong side of the field too! It's going to be nice. I've never experienced something like this before, so it's going to be exciting for me.
