Buddle cleared to play by SABH doctors

Major League Soccer announced today that Columbus Crew forward Edson Buddle has completed his assessment pursuant to MLS' Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health ("SABH") Policy. Buddle has been cleared to participate in MLS matches by the SABH Program doctors.

"The organization is pleased at the mature approach Edson has displayed in dealing with this matter," said Crew General Manager Mark McCullers. "His positive attitude is why the process has been completed so quickly. We are looking forward to his return."

The Crew, 12 points away from the fourth and final MLS Cup Playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, return to action on Saturday, September 3 when they travel to The Home Depot Center to face Chivas USA at 10 p.m. (ET). The game is televised nationally via Direct Kick.
