The 22-year-old Dutch goalkeeper was added to Minnesota United’s First Team after signing a contract through the end of the 2025 MLS season, with club options for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. Speel joined the First Team after competing with MNUFC2.
Speel joined MNUFC2 in 2025 on an MLS NEXT Pro contract after spending the 2024 season as a graduate student with Duke University’s men’s soccer program. In MLS NEXT Pro action, the goalkeeper made six starts, recording 14 saves and earning one clean sheet. Collegiately with the Blue Devils, Speel appeared in and started 19 matches, recorded seven shutouts, and finished the season with an 11-4-4 (W-L-D) record, establishing himself as a consistent presence between the posts.
Since joining Minnesota United, Speel has made an immediate impact at the First Team level. He made his First Team debut in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, recording a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Louisville City FC in the Round of 32. He followed that performance with another strong showing in the Round of 16, helping the Loons secure a 3-2 win over St. Louis CITY SC. Speel later made his Major League Soccer debut on June 14, starting against San Diego FC, before earning his first MLS win in a 3-1 victory over Houston Dynamo FC on June 25. Across all competitions with the First Team, Speel has made four starts, logging 360 minutes and recording 13 saves.
Speel was loaned out to Shelbourne FC in July of 2025. Speel has since made 22 appearances across all competitions, recording seven clean sheets and logging almost 2,000 minutes in goal. This included 11 appearances in Ireland’s Premier Division, six starts in UEFA Conference League play, two starts in UEFA Europa League Qualifying, and one UEFA Champions League Qualifying start.
