Career Summary

HOW ACQUIRED: Signed as a Homegrown Player on June 30, 2020.

The first Homegrown from Hawaii, Hopeau is vastly experienced at the professional level and should provide depth on the wing for the Sounders.

OUTSIDE MLS: Hopeau started and played the full 90 minutes in both of his contests in 2020 for Tacoma Defiance in the USL Championship prior to the suspension of play, leading the club with five shots and three shots on goal. In 2019, he recorded career-highs in goals (5) assists (4) and starts (25). In 2018 for S2, Hopeau took another step forward, staring 24 matches as he recorded two goals and 27 chances created. In recognition of his growing leadership within the group, Hopeau captained the team on several occasions throughout the season. In 2017, Hopeau made his season debut in a 2-1 season-opening loss to Sacramento Republic FC (March 26) and recorded his first assist in a 3-2 win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (April 29). He also appeared in two matches for S2 as a member of Sounders FC Academy in 2016. Hopeau joined Sounders FC academy after playing for Hawaii Rush.
