A tall, athletic center back who is dominant in the air -- in the back and on set pieces in attack -- and aggressive with his anticipation play. He will try and be more consistent defensively during the 2017 season.
OUTSIDE MLS: The defender made his professional debut on January 16, 2007 for Middlesbrough, the club he grew up at from age 13. A lengthy injury history limited him to just over 80 appearances across several tiers of English soccer, including the English Premier League, the Championship and League One for Middlesbrough, Derby County, Oldham Athletic and Coventry. Before joining Orlando, he spent the second half of the 2014 season on loan at Coventry City from Middlesbrough.
INTERNATIONAL: Hines has 17 caps for England’s youth teams – featuring for the U-16, U-17 and U-19 teams.
