GOAL: Razvan Cocis has his shot deflected past Hamid
Goal! D.C. United 3, Chicago Fire 2. Razvan Cocis (Chicago Fire) left footed shot from outside the box to the high center of the goal.
Option declined following 2016 season.
A collected presence in central midfield, Cocis signed a new deal to remain in Chicago in January 2016. The veteran Romanian midfielder figures to see plenty of time for the Fire this season as they look to rebound from their disastrous 2015 under new head coach Veljko Paunovic.
INTERNATIONAL: Cocis has two goals and six assists in over 50 appearances with the Romanian national team. Made his international debut in August 2005, and last appeared for his country in a World Cup Qualifying Playoff match against Greece in November 2013.
OUTSIDE MLS: Prior to signing with the Fire in the summer of 2014, Cocis had spent the vast majority of career in Eastern Europe. He began his pro career in 2001 in his native Romania with FC Universitatea Cluj, and had stints in Moldova, Russia and Ukraine, and spent seven months with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nasr Riyadh.
Cocis’ most notably spent three years with Lokomotiv Moscow, making a total of 54 league appearances and helping the club to the 2007 Russian Cup title.
