In his first MLS season, Da Fonte featured in half of the Rapids' regular season games— including a run of 10 consecutive starts that stretched from June into August. An athletic central defender, he'll provide depth for the Rapids' backline in 2018.
OUTSIDE MLS: Last season, da Fonte scored four goals in 19 appearances for Sacramento Republic FC. In 2015, da Fonte served as captain of the newly formed New York Red Bulls II, leading the team in minutes played (2,003) and games started (23). Prior to his USL arrival, da Fonte spent two years playing in the Terceira Divisão Portuguesa (Portuguese Third Division), making 23 appearances with S.C. Espinho (2012-13). A year later, da Fonte joined Pedras Salgadas and saw action in 23 contests for the club.
