Career Summary

Option declined following 2016 season.

A native of suburban Naperville, Illinois, Stephens is a clean, disciplined central midfielder. He came on strong for the Fire towards the end of the 2015 season, starting 10 of the club’s final 12 games, and will look to carry his solid end-of-season form into the 2016 campaign.

INTERNATIONAL: Stephens represented the US on the U-15, U-16, U-17, U-18, U-20 and U-23 levels, and made the roster for the 2009 U-20 World Cup.

OUTSIDE MLS: After spending the first four years of his pro career with the LA Galaxy, Stephens moved to Norwegian club Stabaek IF in 2014. He made 30 appearances for Bob Bradley’s side, tallying seven assists and scoring one goal.

COLLEGE: Played at UCLA from 2006-2009, scoring 11 goals and adding 20 assists in 81 career games for the Bruins. The 2009 Pac-10 Player of the Year, he played two seasons with the Chicago Fire’s PDL team during his college summers.
