Minnesota United acquire forward Mamadou Dieng
TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing Minnesota United FC have acquired forward Mamadou Dieng from USL Championship side Hartford Athletic, the club announced Friday.
Senegalese forward Mamadou Dieng joined Minnesota United during the 2025 MLS Secondary Transfer Window, signing a one-and-a-half-year contract through 2026, with club options for 2027 and 2028. He occupies an international roster spot.
In Dieng’s debut season, he played his first match as a Minnesota United player on August 30 against the Portland Timbers at home, just one week after being announced as a new signing with MNUFC. He made four appearances and one start in MLS.
Dieng arrived in Minnesota from Hartford Athletic of the USL Championship, where he made a significant impact across two seasons. The young striker scored 23 goals in 57 matches across all competitions, becoming Hartford’s all-time leading scorer. In his breakout 2024 season, Dieng led the club with 11 goals, and in 2025 he continued his form with 12 more, including a stretch of five goals in three matches between July 30 and August 9, highlighted by two braces in separate games.
Before his move to the United States, Dieng developed through Sahel Academy in Senegal.
