Zlatan Ibrahimovic sports new spelling on LA Galaxy jersey, scores brace

THUMB ONLY - Zlatan "Irbahimovic"

LA Galaxy forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a household name to soccer fans the world over, but on Thursday he featured a variation of his famous name.

Ibrahimovic, who wears his last name on his jersey, featured a misspelled "IRBAHIMOVIC" on his nameplate on his back for the Galaxy's Fourth of July game against Toronto FC at Dignity Health Sports Park.

It's unclear if the spelling error was an all-too-human mistake or if it was an effort for some new mojo, after going scoreless in his last two appearances. Chris Wondolowski memorably broke a slump for the US national team when wearing a misspelled "WONDOWLOWSKI" jersey back in 2013, the equipment manager then sewing an extra W inside his jersey for good luck for the 2013 Concacaf Gold Cup.

But, like Wondo, Ibrahimovic broke his scoreless run, with the go-ahead tally in the 75th minute, before adding a second in the 89th minute. So maybe his mojo did change?
