Weekly update: Headed North

The Houston Dynamo will travel north of the border today, for their first-ever visit to Toronto. Fresh off a 3-1 win over Colorado on Saturday, May 5, the Men in Orange will be looking to collect back-to-back victories for the first time this season. As a matter of fact, the last time the team won consecutive regular-season contests was July 8-15, 2006, when it beat Chivas USA (3-1, Robertson Stadium), and the Kansas City Wizards (3-2 at Arrowhead Stadium).

Toronto FC will also come to this game looking for its second-straight "W" after garnering their first victory of the season over the Chicago Fire. Former Dynamo Kevin Goldthwaite scored Toronto's second goal of the game at the 51st minute of play. The Canadian side won the match, 3-2.

Kickoff for this contest is slated for 6:00 p.m. CT. Channels 55 and 43, as well as 790 AM, "The Sports Animal", and La Norteña, 850 AM and 101.7 FM will broadcast the game.

WHAT'S NEXT?
A Clash of the Titans is in the air for next weekend, as the Houston Dynamo welcome the New England Revolution to Robertson Stadium. The teams have not met since the Dynamo beat New England 4-3 in penalty kicks for the MLS Cup Championship last November. During the 2006 regular season both teams battled to 1-1 draws in the two games they played. The last time the Houston Dynamo won a regular-season contest against New England was on October 1, 2005. The game was played at Gillette Stadium, where the team, then known as the San Jose Earthquakes, beat the Revs 2-0. Brian Ching, assisted by Kevin Goldthwaite, and Dwayne De Rosario (unassisted) scored both goals. Kickoff for this contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. Fox Soccer Channel, and La Norteña, 850 AM and 101.7 FM will broadcast this contest.

COME JOIN US FOR ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN HERRITAGE NIGHT!
May is National Asian Heritage Month. The Houston Dynamo will celebrate its Asian Pacific American Heritage Night this Saturday, May 19, as it plays host to the New England Revolution. Join us for a night in which we will celebrate Asian food, music, and culture! Among other activities, students from Kolter Middle School will participate in a Parade of Nations and a short Japanese performance. For more information, contact the Houston Dynamo at 713-276-7500. Speaking of which, Dynamo forward Brian Ching will be visiting Kolter Middle School this Wednesday, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., to kick off our celebration. There, he will speak to students in the school cafeteria.

PARTICIPATE IN DYNAMO MEDIA MATCH I
Join us for competition, fun, food and charity as Houston-area media has the chance to face off on the same field the Dynamo trains. All accredited Dynamo media is invited to this event on Wednesday, June 6, 11:30 a.m. (following Dynamo practice).

We'll start with a media soccer match, two 20-minute halves at the UH Carl Lewis Track (don't worry-we'll play half field) followed by lunch at the VIP tent at Robertson Stadium. Dynamo coaches will be on hand to supervise the media performance, and selected Dynamo players will also be able to offer their post-game critiques.

Here's one of the best parts: in honor of every media member participating, the Dynamo will donate $100 each to Dynamo Charities and Kicks for Kids. We encourage each media outlet to match this donation, or contribute whatever the outlet can provide. We'll announce this amount and mention each outlet at our game the next night, June 7, against the Colorado Rapids.

In the spirit of competition, we will also invite each member of the winning team to be introduced prior to this June 7 game (8:00pm kick). And, any media member participating in Media Match I will be invited, along with your families or friends, to join us, complementary, for the game against Colorado. We look forward to your participation! Please rsvp to press@houstondynamo.com by Wednesday, May 30. If you have any questions about the event, please call Lester Gretsch at (832) 633-0632 or Steve Mark at (713) 276-7521.
