Watch: Daryl Dike scores beauty for Barnsley against Birmingham City

Daryl Dike - Barnsley - shot vs. Chelsea

Daryl Dike scored a screamer for Barnsley on Saturday, rifling home in the 49th minute of their 1-0 win over Birmingham City in Championship play.

The Orlando City SC striker, who’s on loan at Barnsley through May, let the ball run across his body before smashing a right-footed effort into the top corner. Check it out below:

Barnsley have won seven straight league games since Dike officially joined on Feb. 1, surging up to sixth place in England’s second division. The Tykes now hold the final promotion playoff spot as they chase a Premier League return for the first time since the 1997-98 season.

The 20-year-old has three goals in Barnsley’s last four games, appearing in eight matches across all competitions. Given that form, inquiring minds are starting to wonder if Dike’s $20 million purchase option could be met or if he’s drawing interest from other European sides.

About that very topic, Orlando head coach Oscar Pareja has said something “extraordinary” would need to happen, meaning it’s a high financial bar to meet. The Lions are currently planning for Dike to return after his loan expires.

During his rookie year with Orlando, Dike had eight goals and four assists in 17 games (15 starts). He also made his US men’s national team debut in a Jan. 31 friendly against Trinidad & Tobago (7-0 win), helping the former University of Virginia forward secure a work permit.
