The Vancouver Whitecaps announced on Monday that the club has signed midfielder Deybi Flores to a multi-year contract after finalizing his transfer from Honduran side Club Deportivo Motagua. Flores was originally acquired by Whitecaps FC on a one-year loan from Motagua last February.

The 19-year-old made 15 total appearances with Whitecaps FC in 2015 (11 starts), and would go on to earn his first senior call-up to the Honduras national team for a friendly vs. Cuba last month. Flores also played every minute (three matches) for the Honduras Under-20 squad at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

"Deybi showed flashes of promise in his first year in MLS," said Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson in a club release. "He has the tools to become a regular contributor on both ends of the pitch. We expect him to continue to grow and improve, and we're pleased to have him at the club."

Primarily a box-to-box center mid, Flores played in two Amway Canadian Championship matches and all four of VWFC's CONCACAF Champions League fixtures, and also spent time with Whitecaps FC 2, making three starts in USL play.
