The defending MLS champions look poised for another Cup run, as the Seattle Sounders' unbeaten streak reached a club record 10 games with Wednesday's 1-1 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place.
Vancouver earned a rewarding point, though, with former Sounder Fredy Montero's 64th-minute goal after the Whitecaps went to 10 men. Minutes earlier, Tony Tchani had been sent off with a second yellow.
Seattle had plenty of chances to either build or re-take the lead. Jordan Morris hit the bar with a shot in the 62nd minute, one of several opportunities. But the Sounders still remain atop the Western Conference standings at 41 points, and are unbeaten in their last five road matches. Vancouver remain above the playoff line.
The Whitecaps wouldn't have earned their point without the efforts of Ousted, who saw 25 shots and made seven saves. Sounders defender
saw his header on target stopped in the 48th minute, and in the 55th, Ousted punched away a Lodeiro shot that was headed for the net. Lodeiro, however, had the goal celebration of the night, reprising his memorable celebration from last season:
