Red Bull New York announced today that midfielder Dave van den Bergh has obtained his U.S. green card and thereby will not count as a senior international on the Red Bulls' roster. The Red Bulls now have an open senior international slot with the other three occupied by forward Juan Pablo Angel, midfielder Markus Schopp and goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus. An MLS team is allowed to have a total of four senior internationals.

A senior international is non-domestic player (i.e. non-U.S. citizen and non-green card holder) who is 25 or older.

Van den Bergh, acquired by the Red Bulls on January 11, 2007 from the Kansas City Wizards in exchange for a 2007 third round supplemental draft pick, has played in each of the squad's 16 games this season, tallying a goal and a team-high four assists.
