The USL Championship is back — almost.
The league announced a provisional start date of July 11 following a Thursday vote by its Board of Governors.
“While additional information on competition format, scheduling, broadcast and other important details will be made available in the coming weeks, it’s important to note that the league’s return to play will be conducted in strict alignment with all local and state public health guidelines,” the statement read.
Most USL Championship teams played just once before the league suspended play amid the coronavirus pandemic on March 18. Nine MLS clubs own and operate teams in the USL Championship.
