United 2, Rapids 0 -- quote sheet

we created a lot of chances today. We scored two, but that's enough. It's enough to get three points and we have to get good things out of this game and fix the bad things and move on to the next game."

D.C. UNITED FORWARD JAIME MORENO

On his goal:

It was a good buildup. We played as a team it shows it is very hard to keep up with everybody. It was an important goal. I think it shows that the whole game was a little bit unfair today. We couldn't score more goals, we created a lot of chances and that's part of the game and we have got to keep working on putting our chances away."

D.C. UNITED MIDFIELDER BEN OLSEN

On Peter Nowak's response to the hostility on the field:

"It's getting that time of year where the intensity is raised because it is getting to be playoff time. People are fighting for playoff positions - it happens every year. I think we responded to that really well today. We fought the battle and we played pretty good soccer in the meantime. That is what is going to get us to the championship."

On breaking Colorado's defense down:
"I thought we broke them down very well in the final third, but the stuff wasn't great the first half. They did so much defending I think that took a toll on them the second half. We had some pretty good goals."

D.C. UNITED MIDFIELDER CHRISTIAN GOMEZ

On the game:

"It was a difficult game. They came out and packed it in defensively and it made it very difficult for us to penetrate offensively. Luckily, we we're able to score on a dead ball situation and that helped us open the game a little bit."

On his 10th goal of the season:
"I am very happy I was able to contribute with a goal on a dead ball situation. It seemed it was the only way for us to open the score sheet. I think the goal gave us momentum and allowed us to control the pace of the game."

On the importance of the win going into the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana:
"It was very important for us to win tonight. Now, we are a step closer to making the playoffs, which is one of our priorities right now. But also, this result gives us a big lift emotionally heading into the game against Catolica next week in Chile."

COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH FERNANDO CLAVIJO

On the last part of the season:

"We play Salt Lake three more games and Chivas two more games, so we have pretty much been tested. We knew this game was going to be hard and we made it a little harder on ourselves today. Overall, all the guys came up, worked hard and can't complain for that."

On the team's plans:
"We go back home and the game against D.C. was a very hard game for us but I think everything looks good for us. We have six more games to go and all of them are at home so we have a pretty good record but we have to come here and be able to better than what we did tonight."

On the team's adjustment without Nat Borchers:
"They adjusted well. Here is the guy who has been in every single line up for every single minute that we play and it is obvious we made some changes and we put Pablo [Mastroeni] back, who is a very quality player but it is not his normal position and it was hard. The other team played hard - they executed a great free kick. You have to give them credit. We suffered some injuries but you have to give the credit to the team that played well."

On the team's overall performance:
"I think we played hard. We didn't come out with the points. When you play D.C. you know it is going to be hard. It was hard when we played them at home. We beat them. We knew it was going to be hard and took a really good free kick to open up the goals."
