Goalkeeper Week: American shot stoppers find home in the Premier League

Brad Friedel - Tottenham Hotspur - solo shot

American goalkeepers in the English Premier League have been a near constant over the past 25 years.

Players such as Brad Friedel, Kasey Keller and Tim Howard have made names for themselves across the pond, cementing their status as some of the best 'keepers in the world during their time in England.

It's almost a rite of passage at this point -- since 1998, every starting US goalkeeper in the World Cup has plied his trade in England. US goalkeepers in England have been such a staple, that the US boasts the second-most appearances among goalkeepers from any country since the Premier League started in 1992-93. The only country that has more? England, of course.

So who will be next in this long line? Only time will tell.
