Star is born: Sporting KC's Gianluca Busio scores in third straight game

Gianluca Busio - Sporting Kansas City - celebrates a goal with Daniel Salloi

Gianluca Busio's rise continues.

The 16-year-old came off the bench and scored a late equalizer for Sporting Kansas City, sealing a 2-2 draw with the New York Red Bulls. It's the third consecutive game the US youth international has found the back of the net.

Busio continues to be a key figure for SKC this season after making his MLS debut last year. He scored a goal in 153 minutes across seven appearances last year and already has three goals in 238 this season.

SKC's midfield is as crowded as any in the league, with Ilie Sanchez, Felipe Gutierrez and Roger Espinoza regular starters and high-level backups like Kelyn Rowe and Gedion Zelalem vying for minutes alongside Busio.

It's an embarrassment of riches for Vermes, but Busio's form will make him difficult to keep out of the spotlight.

Busio continues to prove that if you're good enough, you're old enough. What's next for the kid?
