Spain update: FC Dallas hit the pool

LA MANGA, Spain --
SCRIMMAGE CHANGE FOR WEDNESDAY: Bodo Glimt from Norway will replace Ciudad Murcia of Spain as the team's opponent tomorrow. Ciudad Murcia had to cancel due to injuries.

TRAINING REPORT:
The weather in Spain heated up a little Tuesday, but the wind was blowing hard so Colin Clarke decided to keep the team inside for their scheduled morning session. The team hit the swimming pool at the team's complex and enjoyed the break from the hard weather. In the afternoon, the team took to the pitch and had an hour-and-a-half training session. They began with one touch drills to warm up and then worked on offensive ball movement, putting seven offensive players against five defenders. The defenders showed pressure, but the object was to help the offense get to know one another a little better. On the other side of the field, the defenders practiced on getting the ball out of their own end with movement with and without the ball.
PLAYER NEWS:
Bobby Rhine, who played the first half at right back during the team's 2-1 victory last night, was again in the right defender position today at training. Aaron Black will have another tryout after being with the team a week in Dallas. Black is expected to come to Spain tomorrow to start training with FC Dallas.
COACH COLIN CLARKE'S QUICK HITS:
• Clarke on what bringing the players to the pool this morning instead of training on the field: "It was too windy outside and we would have had trouble putting a training session on. Plus, it was a good opportunity to recover from the game last night. They worked hard in the pool and also had some fun. By the way the weather is turning we were able to get out on the field during the afternoon."
• Clarke on how well the team responded to the long trip and the tough conditions of the match last night: "They've done very well. There is going to be a few times during these two weeks where the players will hit a wall because of the length of the time we have been working and are away from home. When that time comes, it will be important for us to work through it and deal with it in the right way. Right now, spirits are up and the boys are feeling good about themselves. Last night's match was a good result, but more importantly it was a good performance."
• Clarke on the "Survivor-Apprentice" competition the team is having again: "We did this last year and it went very well. With the new faces we have this year, we felt it would be a good thing to do once again. The team loves it and that is an important part of why we are here."
INJURY REPORT:

Cornell Glen (Ankle) - Re-evaluated tomorrow (Twisted his ankle after kicking the ball into Patrice Abanda at practice...Will be re-evaluated tomorrow).

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"I owe it all to my mom for forcing me to go to swimming lessons when I was a little kid at North Springfield Swimming Academy. The crossbar hanging was just pure luck and I'm happy that the dress won't be on my back today ." - FC Dallas Defender Clarence Goodson after being a star during the "Survivor-Apprentice" competitions. Goodson was one of the strongest swimmers and also was the last one left hanging on to the crossbar in the second challenge.
